5 Ways to De-Stress Your Employees and Co-Workers for the Start of the New Year!
Well Denver, we’ve reached the end of the 4th working quarter again. Before we say hello to 2018, though, it’s time to shake off all the stress and worries 2017 has brought us! After all, there’s no better way to start the New Year than with a fresh and stress-free mind!
Workplace and job/career issues have always been one of the most common causes of stress in American life. Whether it’s because of internal conflicts, boring routine, or just that pesky Susan in the next cubicle- it’s inevitable. Luckily, job stress is a problem that can be resolved in many ways. Provide Holiday Incentives
Providing incentives doesn’t mean going “all out” and giving every worker you have a 13th month pay or Christmas monetary bonuses. If you’re a start-up company or you’re simply on a budget, those things just aren’t realistic. Holiday incentives can be something as simple as a handmade gift, a surprise potluck, or maybe even some free movie tickets so employees can take their loved ones out during these holidays. It’s the little things!
2. Throw an Office Party
Why do employees go out for drinks during the weekends? To wind down after a hectic week, of course! Imagine the kind of stress that accumulates from an entire YEAR if some of your employees don’t take those opportunities. Throwing a New Year’s party back at the office or at a nearby spot would let your employees mingle and have a chance to “let their hair down” as a group. This can give them a chance to dance off the all the stress they accumulated throughout the year, a chance to build up morale and repoire with their co-workers, and would help them start the New Year off on the right foot, as a team!

Who doesn’t need a break? Always remember, a well-rested worker is a productive worker. It’s tempting to overwork your employees during these busiest months of the year. There is so much to do around this time of year, but don’t forget that they’re human beings too! Allowing your staff to have a longer lunch break around the New Year, or even letting them take their cigarette/water breaks more liberally (or making brief breaks temporarily mandatory) will all help relax workers and improve production.
